I enjoy awkward silences.

Why is it that when talking to someone and there is absolutely nothing else to say, the silence must always be filled!?!?! I don’t understand! For example:

me: watsup
you: nothing much you?
me: nothing much here either
you: cool

(five minutes later)

you: sooooo…….

I would tend to agree. Unless the awkward-silence-induced conversation is happening on the phone. I hate it when people call me, and have nothing to talk about.

Also, I think it has a lot to do with how well you know the other person. If it’s someone you’ve just met, you don’t have any inside jokes, you can’t safely insult them, and you don’t know their interests/problems/childhood fears.

There are hardly any silences when I’m around my friends, and the conversations that we have would make great dialogue for movies; or so I’ve often thought.
