[avast, ye land-loving scurvy dogs!]

Ahoy there mates, the Dread Pirate Dismarum has officially returned from holiday and is ready to sail the briny deep of the digital world again!

The RIAA has hacked me off for the last time and is well on it’s way for rendering the last safe haven for music, AllOfMP3.com, obsolete. It is, in short, using it’s weight to shut down a site that is completely legal by Russian standards (the nation in which the company is located) and trying to impose it’s evil empire beyond American soil when it has no grounds to do so. It has already demanded that PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express not process any transaction from AllOfMP3.com, a service they happily provided before. How can such an institution dictate where major cardholders choose to spend their funds? That is it. I have had it and now I am done. I tried to play nice and the other kiddies decided to kick me in the shins as a response. Well fine. Have it your frickin’ way.

Thus, with a new ship ready to hold 120 gigs worth of plunder and a crew made up of 1 gig of RAM, I say onward and damn those who would stop me to Davy Jones’ Locker!

As a side note, buy CDs whenever possible directly from the artist. I have all the indie hipsters in my heart.

I’ll give up pirating when they sink my ship. The last two discs I purchased were, “Neon Bible” by Arcade Fire and “All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone” by Explosions in the Sky. I’m seeing the later in concert next Monday. I’ve never been a fan of buying music online as I like the retail packaging.

Ooh, Explosions in the Sky is good. I keep trying to get into Arcade Fire but haven’t been able to. Everyone keeps suggesting them, so maybe I’ll give them one last shot.
Have you heard Do Make Say Think? Hammock? Letting Up Despite Great Faults (indie)?

I think I’ve heard of all three of those bands…but haven’t actually listened to them yet. However, I do have a FTP server that has an insatiable hunger for new music. I could probably coax it into letting you download some Arcade Fire in exchange for some other music.
