[iglesia, con leche]

Alright, Tegan & Sara’s “The Con” was leaked as of yesterday and available on torrents. I was sulking/went out of town for the night, so I’m a day late. However, I got it as of 20 minutes ago and have been giving it a listen.

Initial impressions:

- Still one of my favorite frickin’ bands ever.
- Sounds more mature. It’s a lot darker sounding, which I’m not contributing to the “mature” aspect, but it’s pretty different from their previous stuff.
- They use a piano as a central instrument!!
- Less centered on overt “love” type themes, though it’s still saturated with it, just not screamingly so. I mean c’mon, it’s Tegan & Sara.
- The title track “The Con” is pretty catchy without it being overly pop’ish.
- Track #8 “Soil, Soil” is my fav so far. It’s completely beautiful and entirely too short.
- The longest song is 3:41 minutes. This album plays fast. There are no ballads; everything exists in short, precise statements.
- I like it.

I’m buying it on the release date.

jane, you and I are going to see them on tour, right?

    Okay.
    Fig time.

I was going to respond with a “What, is that English?” to your tour question. Then when I went to post the comment, I realized the title of the post. Haha. What the hell is wrong with you? That’s a wii-diculous title!

    Oh.
I also was going to respond to the name of the album because I thought you thought it was catchy without being overly pop’ish, but upon rereading the statement, I realize you said the title TRACK. Okay.

    Um.
    Goodbye.
