[if you’re tired of the big so-so]

June 22, 2006

I played softball on unsteady feet today and felt better about myself than I have in a long time. It’s not everyday one gets to witness a complete and total lack of athletic skill on the scale that I can display. The “field” was a dirt track ran over with prairie dog holes, ant beds, and cacti. It is the West Texas version of blacktop.

I’m a natural at throwing things and wanting to run home.

I want to start a kickball league. No bats or gloves needed. Any takers?

Still true today.

Today. Today was a pretty good day. I don’t say that very often - not because most of my days are “bad” per say, but just because the title of a “good day” should be reserved for a day you feel especially affectionate for. While the majority of days are not “bad” and are rather positively flavored actually, they don’t quite fall into the category of “good” due to the fact that they don’t stand out. It is not a day for the history books. It is not a day that you go back to over a year later and say “yeah, that’s still true”. However, on the good day, you can say that. Or at least you should still be able to. And so I do.

A year later I am still unsteady. I am still running home. I’m alright with that.

This may have no meaning to you, but it does to me.
