Well, if I could, I surely would stand on the rock where Moses stood.

Today we’re talking about movies.

Yesterday I watched Stay. I still can’t decide what I think about it. Apparently Mel watched it as well and had a similar reaction. I don’t think things are explained as well as they should. The direction and cinematography is interesting, but I think it gets a little too carried away in parts where it shouldn’t.

Some upcoming movies that caught my eye:

The Invasion: It’s a remake of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but it actually looks interesting. The best part is the character list I was randomly browsing on IMDb: Sleep Deprived Screamer, Snatcher, Snatcher, Census Taker Snatcher, Snatcher, Looter, Snatcher, Snatcher, Precision Driver, Butler, Girlfriend #2, Snatcher, Snatcher, Doppelganger Snatcher, Panicked Woman, Snatcher, Snatcher. You get the idea. It makes me laugh.

The Darjeeling Limited: Here’s a Wes Anderson one. I still need to catch up on his films. All I know is The Royal Tenenbaums is utterly fantastic and I fully expect The Darjeeling Limited to be the same fantastic-ness.

Dedication: This looks like one I’ll have to own in my DVD collection. Artsy romantic comedy goodness, anyone?

Things We Lost In The Fire: Title sound familiar? That’s because it’s the title of a Low album, and a damn good title at that. Apparently someone else thought so as well. Now, I adore Benicio Del Toro and Halle Berry kicks ass in her own right, but to be honest I’m a little disappointed in the plot line. For such a great title, I want to see a plot that’s going to grab hold of me in the first three seconds of the film and pull me along every step of the way so I can’t catch my breath until after the credits have stopped rolling and I’m certain there’s no bonus footage waiting at the end.
Still. This might be one of those “I’ll rent it when it comes to DVD” movies.

Rocket Science: Judging from the trailer, I’m guessing this is two steps up from Napoleon Dynamite and one step down from a Wes Anderson film. I predict it’ll definitely be worth watching, at least for the four dollars it’ll cost to rent it at Blockbuster.

So.
What more do you want? Links to trailers?
Fine. Here:

The Invasion
The Darjeeling Limited
Dedication
Things We Lost In The Fire
Rocket Science

One of my favorite pieces of wisdom from Judging Amy has always been the line: “Everything will be fine in the end. If it’s not fine, it’s not the end.”

On a rare introspective & personal note, I think it’s easy for people to use me as a scapegoat or assume the worst about me. I’ve given it a lot of thought over the years and have decided it’s because my faults are so obvious. I’m an easy target.
End moment of self-awareness.

On a good note, I have a vase full of irises next to me and they’re gorgeous. I normally don’t use words like gorgeous to describe things like flowers, but I’m going out on a limb here. I love their big stems. And they smell like hotel rooms. That might be my favorite part yet.

Peace, love, and flowers that smell like hotel rooms.

    ..
all of these movies have these things in common: the ANDErSON BROTHERS
who GREW UP NEAR WHERE I LIVE, and lee knows the daD
and are also GREAT FRIENDS WITH MIKE JUDGE
    who ALSO SOMEWHAT RECENTLY PUT OUT “IDIOCRACY” [we all no who MIKE JUDGE IS DO WE NOT???}
start w. beavis and butthead, go to king of the hill, oh, reverse: OFFICE SPACE!
    ...
and start to understand that we have a slew of geniuos people dealing with one singular goal::::
THE OXYMORONISH DUMBNESS OF TEXAS which yet still holds beauty and beautiful people concurrently.
    ...
and, wes, wrote most of his films with OWEN, and luke helped a bit: and then there is future man[3rd bro] all who r in ZOOLANDER/ who u would have to see bottle rocket to understand this reference: and then the brilliant dallas other writer just because it ACTUALLY WAS HIS HOUSE
    BOB MAPPLETHORPE.[sorry back to bottlerocket]
    .
and all of these guys move on to BIGTIME BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES
    ..
    JUST WATCH BOTTLE ROCKET
and see the TREND WHICH FOLLOWS IN ALL OF TV AND MOVIES AND ACTING
but watch the 1996 version with James Caan. After it was picked up/ by
    Columbia
