I’ve got so much left to say.
I’m going to share this brief anecdote with all of you, even though I know some might be quick to call it coincidence:
The past week since returning from my trip has been stressful for me. Without school to distract me the past several days, the rest of my life has caught up with me and I finally have to face issues I’ve been shoving under the bed for months. At one point I realized what I’m missing in all this mess is peace. So I prayed to find peace, and I said, “What am I supposed to do? Look up ‘peace’ in my Bible’s concordance? Where do I start? How do I find peace?”
Sunday dismarum and I went to church. At the beginning of the sermon, just after praise and worship, the pastor began with the main verse: Matthew 5:9. Blessed are the peacemakers. And as he began to discuss finding peace in our lives, I almost cried from sheer joy and thanksgiving. There it was–an answered prayer coming through loud and clear. Once I got over the tears in my eyes, I wanted to jump out of my seat and cheer.
Yes. God feels that good.
In other news, I have decided I’m going to make myself a quilt by the end of this year. I’m going to make it out of concert/band t-shirts. I found some good ones today at the thrift stores–namely The Killers, Hendrix, Tom Petty, Billy Joel, Steel Train, etc. It’s getting expensive, though, because thrift stores around here have high prices. So if any of you have some old band/concert shirts you no longer wear, I would love to take them off your hands. I’ll even pay you for them. Or, if you prefer (as I do), I’ll send you music and random crap instead. Your choice. Let me know.
Has anyone ever heard anything about the book of Isaiah being a synecdoche for the Bible? I stumbled across something about it many years ago and have been wondering ever since. The largest coincidence is in the number of books and chapters, i.e. Isaiah has 66 chapters and the Bible has 66 books. Also worth noting is the definite shift between subject matter between Isaiah chapters 39-40. This break parallels the break in books from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
Ideally, I’ll see what I can dig up about this, but I wonder if anyone else has heard something similar.
I’m addicted to playing scrabble on facebook. I apologize to all of you who are playing against me. I have a scrabble disease.
That’s all for now.
Peace, love, and answered prayers.
