I’m ready for autumn. I’m not ready for the fall.

Okay, all my dear, sweet, slightly-more-than-nerdy friends. I just spent a good hour and a half (or more) trying to figure out why Mel’s new iPod shuffle isn’t showing up on iTunes. I tried just about everything I could think of and just about everything listed on the Apple support site.
The weird thing is: When I plugged the shuffle into the computer, it installed a program called AMT that the device manager read as a CD-ROM. Subsequently, when the shuffle was plugged in again, it ran the AMT program in the taskbar and apparently auto-converted files to some mysterious format. I tried disabling the AMT device, reinstalling iTunes, and connecting the shuffle. Nope. No dice. I seriously tried everything.
Can anyone tell me what on earth this shady AMT program is and why it’s being installed when the shuffle is plugged in?

Also, our DVR hates us.

Grumble grumble.

I love Starbucks’ mocha frappuccinos. Mmm. I shouldn’t have had two tonight, though.
I got a cookie from Starbucks the other day. It had a definite banana flavor undertone. It was delicious, but a little disarming.

Peace, love, and delicious mocha goodness.

Hey my DVR died on me too! Rather, it stopped recording new shows. What the hell damn guy!

Ours stopped recording shows last week. I called Suddensuck and they reset the DVR. Now it records shows, but it loses sound and the image gets all pixel-y and breaks up. It used to only do that on HBO. Now it’s most channels. Gr.

How new is this iPod? I’ve never heard of one installing any software automatically when it is plugged in.

I’m assuming that you tried resetting the ipod (since you tried everything). :)
Does Windows detect it (assuming it’s being used on a Windows PC), does it show up in my computer (The iPod itself, not that crazy cd drive thing)?

    Will another computer detect it?

Have you tried this tool from Apple?

Let me know if any of that worked. You can hit me up on whichever IM client you use, I should be available after 9:00 PM EST.

Mine stopped recording last week, but I’m going to just drop it. I bought a USB TV Tuner and will record via computer and save myself some cash.
